Gambassi Terme Municipal Park

A green space for adults and children in the center of the village

Gambassi Terme’s municipal park runs parallel to the central Via Garibaldi and offers a green and pedestrian alternative for those who, from the spa, want to go down to Piazza Roma, the heart of summer evenings and a crossroads to the old village.

Between the 19th and 20th centuries, the garden was part of the property of the Sinnai family, which then passed from the hands of the Niccoli family, who from 1916 began planting fine plants and essences, a collection of natural curiosities from overseas, from the villa owner’s many trips to the Americas and Africa.

Due to the financial collapse of the Niccoli family, the municipality was able, between 1936 and ’38, to buy the large Podere Giardino.

Today, in the shade of the black pine, the locust tree that is tinged with delicate white flowers in late spring, in the shade of the majestic horse chestnut, the holm oaks and cypresses, the life of the gambas flows.
On spring afternoons or summer evenings it is filled with voices, childhood cries, teenage love affairs, and walks of old age. It is a beautiful public park, one of the most beautiful sunsets in the country.
