AZIENDA AGRICOLA CASANUOVA

Tuscan Wine Tasting on the Via Francigena

Walking along the Via Francigena you can find The Azienda Agricola Casanuova, which lies inside the Benestare Park. Its vineyards extend over 25 hectares amongst the territories of Gambassi Terme, Certaldo and San Gimignano.

The local grape specialities of Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Merlot and Malvasia are carefully and wisely cultivated by Caterina and Saverio.

They have been producing organic wines of excellent quality, with a strong and decisive flavor for three generations. All the products are made preserving the viticulture and olive growing tradition, which distinguish their history.

“Day after day we grow our land respecting the environmentCaterina and Saverio state – we believe in no herbicide and pesticide-free viticulture, made with a guidance on good practices by intervening as little as possible in the vineyard’s maintenance. We scrupulously select the grapes to develop an organic wine that is left to stand and rest until the magical moment of bottling”

For those who have swept the Via Francigena road from Gambassi Terme to San Gimignano,

The Azienda Agricola Casanuova is a friendly place, where you can also buy the pilgrim’s passport or simply admire the “bacheca del pellegrino”, a wall decorated with lots of coats of arms, wall paintings, signs, that has become one of the most photographed spot by those who are walking along this path.
